PERFECT LEMONADE RECIPE


'When life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade', what a befitting saying to literally making your own Lemonade. 

Homemade lemonade should always be part of your summer menu, especially with its easy to follow recipe. The tangy, refreshing , and thirst quenching offerings of fresh Lemonade completes any summer picnic to a 'tee'.  

At the cost of about £1 to make a litre of fresh Lemonade with no preservatives; one should be encouraged to visit their local grocer/ supermarket for some unwaxed fresh Lemons, asap. 




The perfect Lemons for this recipe should be a mixture of a smooth and thin skin ones (perfect for juicing) and a knobbly skin one for zesting. 

If you can't get hold of unwaxed Lemons, scrub the waxed Lemons before using. 

Tip
Best way to get the juice out your Lemons, is to massage it, using a your palm. 
  



Ingredients 

4 unwaxed Lemons
1 litre of water
200g of crushed ice
100g of Sugar (Add more for a sweeter taste).
Slices of half a Cucumber 

Lemon thyme (optional)
Mint (Optional)
Vodka or Gin (Optional)

Method;
Using unwaxed Lemons are highly recommended as the waxed ones are covered in preservatives.

Grate the zest and juice  of each Lemons into a bowl and place in the fridge. 



Cut the juiced Lemons and place in a saucepan.
Add the water and sugar to the saucepan. 

Place the saucepan on a low heat for 5 minutes and stir till the sugar dissolves.
Set the syrup aside till its completely cooled.


Add the Lemon juice to the syrup and stir.
Sieve the pips using a fine colander and transfer the juice to a jug. 
Add the crushed ice and serve with a sliver of Cucumber in your preferred glass. 
Enjoy!

Lemon Thyme infusion
For an alternative taste, add a few sprigs of Lemon Thyme to the crushed ice and shake. Add the juice and serve. 

Boozy infusion.
For an alcoholic taste, add a splash of Vodka or Gin with mint.
